1. Current Development Status in China

China's research and development of biomass solid molding technology has a history of over twenty years. In the 1990s, it was mainly focused on screw extrusion molding machines, but there were shortcomings such as severe wear of the molding barrel and screw, short service life, high power consumption, and overly simple molding processes, resulting in high overall production costs and stagnant development. Since 2000, biomass solid molding technology has made significant progress, and the production and application of molding equipment have initially formed a certain scale.

2. Favorable Policy and Regulatory Environment Has Been Established

The General Office of the State Council pointed out in the "Notice on Accelerating the Comprehensive Utilization of Straw": "Combined with rural environmental improvement, actively utilize biomass energy technologies such as straw biogasification (biogas), pyrolysis gasification, solidification molding, and carbonization to gradually improve the rural energy structure." The Ministry of Finance issued the "Interim Measures for the Management of Subsidy Funds for Straw Energy Utilization," adopting comprehensive subsidy approaches to support enterprises engaged in straw briquette fuel, straw gasification, straw carbonization, and other straw energy production in collecting straw, producing straw energy products, and promoting them to the market.

3. Core Technologies Are Maturing

Currently, China has achieved breakthroughs in key technologies for straw solid molding, especially the die-roller extrusion pellet molding technology, which has reached the advanced level of similar international products. It effectively solves problems such as high power consumption, low production efficiency, severe wear of molding components, and short service life, and has already been commercialized. The production and application of straw solid molding equipment nationwide have initially formed a certain scale, with an annual output of solid briquette fuel of approximately 20.1 million tons, mainly using sawdust and straw as raw materials, for rural residential energy use, boiler fuel, and power generation. The development of biomass stoves has also made certain progress, with specialized stoves developed for straw solid briquette fuel including cooking stoves, dual-purpose cooking and heating stoves, and industrial boilers.
