Therefore, my model is to integrate resources, link segments, use points to drive areas, use townships to drive cities, and achieve multi-win." Zhu Hongfeng, General Manager of Yiwu Andong Electric Appliance Co., Ltd., who outlines the future from a whole industry development perspective, has already sketched a complete industrial model in his mind, involving farmers, stove factories, molding fuel factories, relevant government departments, financial institutions, and more. In this model, none of the links in the chain need to contribute extra money. Instead, everything revolves around straw, transforming it from a former waste product into a "treasure" with economic value and a new economic growth point, changing straw that was previously burned in vain - polluting, wasting resources, and yielding negative benefits - into something that can save energy, protect the environment, and create positive benefits.
First, straw in exchange for stoves, also exchangeable for molding fuel. Because in rural areas, straw burning is a major problem. Many people burn it all at once, causing soil compaction and frequent fires. The smoke is very harmful to human health and also affects transportation and civil aviation. Not only is it not environmentally friendly, it also causes resource waste. Is there a way to make farmers willingly not burn straw and instead utilize it well, turning waste into treasure and forming resource reuse? "So I thought of using straw to exchange for stoves. Farmers don't need to pay a single cent; they only need a certain amount of straw to get a biomass multifunctional integrated stove for free. This not only solves cooking, stir-frying, boiling water, baking, heating, bathing, and heated bed issues, but also saves coal money. Then, would they still want to burn straw in vain? Definitely not! Farmers provide corresponding amounts of straw over one year, three years, five years, or even ten years to pay off. The longer the term, the better - because they're in debt, they certainly won't waste straw. Another benefit is that farmers' quality of life immediately improves - clean, hygienic, and easy to operate. Why do rural areas give the impression of being dirty, disorderly, and poor? The reason lies in household fuel. In front of houses, in courtyards, inside rooms, and on heated beds, piles of firewood, coal, and haystacks breed mosquitoes, flies, and other pests. Then because of directly burning firewood and coal, everything inside and outside the house, on hands and body are dirty. Imagine if city dwellers also used firewood and coal as fuel for direct burning, they would certainly be equally dusty and in dirty, messy environments. Therefore, changing kitchen fuel is key. At the same time, eliminating haystacks will also increase crop yields by reducing farmland pests. Because according to agricultural experts' research, pests can cause 10% to 50% crop yield reduction, and for pest control, small-area, small-scale efforts definitely don't work well because pests from other areas will still come. Only by eliminating across entire areas can we achieve root treatment and address both symptoms and root causes. Additionally, various places are now implementing mountain closure for forest cultivation. But for forests to grow well and make mountain forests safer by reducing conditions for wildfires, regular thinning and pruning of forests and trees is needed, and low shrubs also need clearing, which generates large amounts of tree branches and shrub twigs. As I understand, some local governments or contractors even pay people to clear these materials. If we go to these places to do this, we can obtain these raw materials almost cost-free, perhaps only spending some transportation fees. Then linking it to the larger exchange model will also have a 1+1>2 effect. Therefore, I believe biomass energy has excellent innate conditions. The development of industrialization has many benefits for turning straw waste into treasure, saving farmers' energy expenses, maintaining farmers' health, ensuring crop yield increases and income growth, creating economic benefits, and saving energy and protecting the environment. Therefore, straw-for-stove exchange will certainly be welcomed." Zhu Hongfeng clearly and logically expounded on the feasibility of the first step of his forward path.
Second, using stoves to exchange for straw, converting straw into molding fuel, thereby becoming a commodity and generating sales revenue. Zhu Hongfeng calculated for the reporter: "I plan to find strong local molding fuel factories in some areas for cooperation, with them serving as regional general distributors developing small and medium distributors across townships and streets. These small and medium distributors must exchange molding fuel for stoves, then exchange for straw from farmers. Farmers, in turn, get a free stove from straw that was previously burned. If this straw is made into molding fuel and sold to users, especially urban commercial stove users, the profit is considerable. This satisfies commercial stove users' fuel supply needs while increasing straw's added value. And for biomass commercial stove catering businesses and similar groups, their operating costs compared to previously using oil and gas can save two-thirds - conservatively speaking, at least half the cost. And what's saved is profit! The future trend is that coal and gas prices will certainly continue to rise, so businesses will definitely be more willing to use biomass stoves. Coal will face restricted mining in the future, and some places have already restricted coal use, no longer allowing coal burning. In this chain, as straw's value is fully realized, every link benefits." Recently, Beijing has issued the "12th Five-Year Plan" energy planning target: no more coal use for heating within the Fifth Ring Road.
Furthermore, for government departments, this both solves the serious problem of straw burning pollution and, through turning straw waste into treasure, becomes a new local economic growth point: molding fuel enterprises' revival and improved performance increase tax revenue and expand employment; farmers also increase income through saving coal money and increased crop yields; environmental improvement also greatly demonstrates its enormous social benefits, thereby developing the local circular economy. Zhu Hongfeng is also calculating: leveraging the advantages of 108 national Green Energy Demonstration Counties, using policy support from relevant county departments to link local financial departments into his industrial chain, achieving good connections between capital and markets, funds and projects, thereby making the commercial operation channel of straw-stoves-molding fuel-revenue smoother with faster operation cycles. The fiscal subsidies and matching funds each "Green County" receives can reduce investment in biomass stoves and biomass molding fuel, instead being used more for other more urgently needed projects.
Zhu Hongfeng believes that for an emerging industry to grow bigger and stronger, it must have a complete industrial chain, a mature business model and profit model, allowing every link - biomass stoves, molding machines, molding fuel, stove-using users, and straw-owning farmers - to benefit from it. At the same time, building an alliance involving industry, academia, research, and relevant government departments to jointly develop the market - only then can this industry grow bigger and stronger.
