Developing New Energy Is the General Trend Accelerating Straw Utilization Is Imperative

China is a large agricultural country with 1.5 billion mu of cultivated land and an annual straw output of 700 million tons. Developing new pathways, technologies, and equipment for straw utilization is of great significance for increasing the value of crop straw, increasing farmers' income, reducing environmental pollution from straw burning, developing ecological agriculture, and returning farmland to forests. With the continuous progress of agricultural production methods, the continuous liberation of labor, and the improvement of living standards of the general population, less than 5% is used for cooking, composting, and making feed; less than 5% is used for straw returning and sideline processing; a large amount of straw in rural areas is stockpiled and idle, and there is a phenomenon of massive straw burning, which not only causes serious environmental pollution but also results in huge waste of resources.

  In recent years, the exponential increase in international and domestic energy prices has caused serious impacts on national economic development and has also brought heavy burdens to the daily energy consumption of ordinary people. At the 2008 Two Sessions, "energy conservation and emission reduction" once again became a focus of discussion, and the development of biomass energy became China's basic national policy. Therefore, fully developing and utilizing crop straw has become one of the important topics in agricultural development, which is in line with China's national conditions and has broad prospects. It effectively alleviates industrial energy consumption problems and also solves the energy consumption problems of ordinary people. The "Renewable Energy Law of the People's Republic of China" was officially implemented in January 2006. In November of the same year, the Ministry of Finance, National Development and Reform Commission, Ministry of Agriculture, State Administration of Taxation, and five other ministries including the State Forestry Administration jointly issued the "Implementation Opinions on Fiscal and Tax Support Policies for Developing Bioenergy and Biomaterials." In April 2007, the National Development and Reform Commission published the "Bio Industry Development 'Eleventh Five-Year Plan'," pointing out: vigorously develop bioenergy and biomaterials, accelerate the application of bio-manufacturing technology in high-consumption and high-pollution industries, reduce dependence on oil, coal, and other non-renewable energy sources, which is conducive to promoting clean production and reducing pollutant emissions. Environmental protection and energy saving are the direction and theme of today's world economic development, and they are also our company's development direction.

  China is rich in biomass resources, with an annual crop straw output of over 70 million tons, but these resources have not been effectively utilized and have even become a burden in some areas:

  First, straw is a traditional rural fuel, mostly used by direct combustion, with a thermal conversion efficiency of only about 10%-20%.

  Second, with the development of the rural economy and the increase of farmers' income, commercial energy sources (such as coal, liquefied gas, petroleum gas, etc.) have entered rural households. Straw, which has lost its combustion function, becomes waste and is discarded everywhere. Some farmers, for convenience, directly burn straw at the field edges, causing serious environmental pollution.

  Therefore, accelerating the high-quality conversion and utilization of straw is imperative.

  With the application and popularization of straw briquette and pellet technology and equipment, the conversion and utilization of combustible biomass such straw has the best pathway. It will surely have broad market prospects!
